One of the most tourist destinations of Hoi An is Tra Que village in Cam Ha commune, far away about 3km from the center of Hoai street. Tra Que is famous for a long time with more than 20 kinds of vegetables grown in the fertile soil, fertilized with seaweed taken from the river, which creates special flavor of those vegetables and makes unique identity for the dishes of Hoi An.
Tra Que was founded over 300 years ago, surrounded by the De Vong River and Tra Que lagoon. The first inhabitants of this land made their living by fishing. They recognized that the advantages of natural conditions so they formed the vegetable village and used the fertility brought by seaweed.
There is no need any chemical fertilizers, the vegetables grow on mould mingled with seaweed, set the special flavor for Tra Que vegetable. So far, the total vegetable acreage has nearly 20 ha, with about 200 households.

The famous dishes of Hoi An such as Quang noodles, Cao Lau or chicken rice cannot be lack of Tra Que vegetable. This is why you can only find the dishes delicious in Hoi An, partly because vegetables of Tra Que are not enough to sell outside of Hoi An.
